Working Principle
Percutaneous Laser Disc Decompression (PLDD) is aminimally invasive procedure used to treat herniateddiscs in the spine that cause back and leg pain.
During the PLDD procedure, a thin laser fiber isinserted into the affected disc through a small incisionin the skin. The laser energy is delivered to the disc,evaporating the water content and shrinking the disc,which in turn relieves the pressure on the nerves andreduces pain.
The combination of the 980nm and 1470nm wave-lengths provides deeper penetration into the tissueresulting in more efficient vaporization of the disc'swater content. Additionally, the laser's energy sealsthe nerve endings and reduces inflammation, leadingto pain relief
